THE JOURNEY
A little disclaimer before you drop in below!
What an amazing 2-3 years it has been since I have really paused to update this site. Stepping out to go deep. While much of what I have below resonates from so long ago, a freshly polished site — and a freshly polished version of "me" (or non-me) — is in the works.
For now, sit back, enjoy the site... put on a DJ mix (see the DJ mixes section!)... and I will be back soon with more!
So much love to you.
Who Am I, What is This...
Akara, in Sanskrit, means "shape," "form," or in some ways, "expression." I was living in a conscious community in Costa Rica, studying dance as a form of therapy, when a woman by the name of Dharma gave the name. She said it was to remind me of my "higher purpose." And for so many reasons...

It is paradoxically a perfect fit.

As someone who makes a practice out of "resting in the void," sensing and feeling into "the nothingness" or "formless" aspects of life - where I trust it all begins - Akara serves as a daily reminder in that...
This All comes from "nothing."

Everything, in some shape (or shapeless) form, is an expression of the Divine. We all arrive here from the same place...
The Great Unknown.

It is from this vast vantage - one I hold lightly as a "perspectiveless perspective" - I approach my practice as a wellness practitioner. Although seemingly paradoxical, I dynamically draw from a multitude of modalities in hopes of guiding you back "into the void" - the space of "nothingness." This is what I sense & experience as our true "home." The true "center." A place of infinite awareness & pure consciousness...
It is both everything & nothing.

Ironically, this space is actually always and all-ways with us, even if not seemingly so. With life as a dynamic, forever changing phenomenon, so often it is easy to forget, become "identified," and "disconnect" from the Source. The Infinite Source of All Creation. But perhaps the greatest realization one can ever have is...

Our tendency to chose fear over love - forgetting our true nature as as human Beings - is one of the main reasons I draw from a multitude of modalities, including energy healings, dance therapy, yoga, and talk therapy. What rids us of our pain or suffering one day might not work on another. No two moments are ever the same, and nothing is as what it appears to be; life is constantly taking a different shape and form. As said in the yoga SÅ«tras of Patañjali:
"Misperception is false knowledge not based on the true form."

So then, what is true form? Ironically, it is formless. Or it at least begins that way. True form resides in Consciousness, eventually becoming our manifested Consciousness, which is that of form. Ultimately, as Walter Russel, the founder of the University of Science and Philosophy, says "The universe exists solely of waves of motion... There exists nothing other than vibration." With this, the question becomes, are we aware of what resides in our consciousness? Are we an observer to our own thoughts, feelings and actions?

Are we aware of how we are stepping out into the world?
Are we aware of our vibration - our energetic field - and how that vibration is taking shape?
Are we consciously manifesting our reality?

As a supportive, imaginative meditation, I often draw upon the visual of a sunflower. With a dark, void-like center, a sunflower then beams its petals outwards, as a bold and courageous manifestation. Its center is vast yet its movements, its petals, are vivid. It moves from darkness to light. From the unmanifest, we manifest. From the immaterial, we materialize.

Thus, from form to the formless, "Akaravibe" is symbolic of inescapable "non-dual" nature of reality. Even if seemingly two, our mind & body, thoughts & actions, directly reflect one another. As Barbara Brennan, former NASA researcher and founder of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, notions, the body is a holographic mirror into the mind.

Reality is a dance between the seen and unseen. The form and the formless.

In psychological terms, the "unseen" can referred to as our subconscious - what's living beneath the surface, seemingly out of reach from our awareness. At times, our subconscious - "automatic programming" - can take over the "driver seat," unknowingly steering our thoughts, feelings, and actions into places we might not necessarily want to go. (Away from "home!" ). Not only might our unconscious thoughts & tendencies influence our emotions, or highjack our joy of the Present moment, they also might be showing up in our manifestations in unwanted patterns, behaviors, and habits.

What might we be unconsciously manifesting in our lives, and why?

During our time together, we will explore various methods & modalities to bring the subconscious into consciousness. You will grow in awareness of what takes you out of your Present moment noticing, while also discovering more deeply what it is that keeps you there! We will create a safe environment for you to explore your true nature, the Source of your endless supply of self-love and self-worth.
You can picture it as if we are going scuba diving together, diving deep into the unknown, while always making sure we are safe, supplied with a surplus of oxygen in our tanks. With compassion, love, and acceptance, we will explore the depths of your soul! You might stumble into parts of your Self you never knew to previously exist. You might grow to feel more empowered, Alive, and free to uncover every aspect of Life's adventures... Both near and far from home!
(Because the Ultimate Home is Within YOU!)

As acknowledged above, Life is an ongoing, forever unfolding dance with the Divine, taking shape and form in new ways for all of us in each and every moment. (And perhaps why, as a dance therapy teacher & energy healer, the closest people in my life know me as "the shape shifter!" who seems to have "eight arms" in her energetic offerings!).

How do you find your place in the dance? How do you find the stillness in the movement? How do you connect with your dynamic, true form?

From every spectrum of life - from the form to the formless, spirit to the physical - I welcome your authentic dance. I welcome moving together through this world to better ourselves, humanity, and Mother Nature.

Or, as Porangui, one of our greatest musicians of this time, notions...

It's about being in "Right Relation," he says, "To all of my Relations."

It's a Story, of a Story, of a Story...

Here's to creating it Consciously. Here's to the space-in-between...

With Endless Love,

Akara

"Your fingerprint is yours to own. Make your conscious mark."
We are all already & all-ready realized.
There is no other time than Now.
